Our new young reviewer programme
Our Young Company: Review progamme is an excellent opportunity for young people between 16 and 25 years old to develop as theatre reviewer of the future.
There aren’t enough live theatre reviews in Wales.
And there isn’t enough recognition of how important dialogue, debate and good critical writing are to a thriving theatre culture.
We want to help change that.
Young Company: Review is an opportunity for young people aged 16–25 to develop the skills and confidence to respond to live theatre - and to have their views published.
Because your opinion matters.
The scheme costs £30 per term.
Across three terms, you'll receive mentorship from Gareth Llŷr Evans, a professional reviewer for The Guardian, through a series of masterclasses exploring how to look at theatre critically, form and express opinions, and develop your own voice as a reviewer.
Then you’ll put those skills into practice by going to see the work.
Every term:
- 1 masterclass
- 1 live production
- 1 review
- 1 publication
By the end of the year, you’ll have seen three productions, written three reviews and had your work published.
You won’t be doing it alone. Support will be available throughout the process, from making your first notes as you leave the theatre, to developing your ideas, refining your response and preparing your final piece for publication.
Your work could become a published blog, written review or another form of critical response.
