Summer / Autumn Programme 26

From a farm in Aberdaron to the stage of Wales

Wythnos Yng Nghymru Fydd a Praidd

A stage adaptation of Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd, a theatre production on a live working farm in Aberdaron, and two new productions by the Young Company.

Shining a light on the communities at the heart of Wales' past, present, and future, the programme brings a unique mix of reimagined classics, site-specific theatre, and new work by young artists to stages and communities across Wales.

At the center of the programme is Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd (A Week in the Wales of the Future), a new stage adaptation of the iconic Welsh novel by Islwyn Ffowc Elis, which will tour theatres across Wales in the autumn. Adapted by Mared Llywelyn and directed by Gethin Evans, the production reimagines the classic for today’s audiences, exploring identity, language, and the future of Wales through a contemporary lens. Tickets for the national tour will go on sale on 27 March.

Earlier in the year, in May 2026, Frân Wen will present Praidd (Flock), a unique site-specific theatre experience on a working farm in Aberdaron. Written by Gwyneth Glyn in collaboration with the local community and directed by Elis Pari, the production invites audiences to experience theatre in the midst of a living and working landscape, where farm life and community intertwine naturally.

It’s a real adventure and a huge privilege to create a show on a working farm in the heart of Pen Llŷn. What’s especially exciting is that members of the local community are right at the heart of both the story and the performance. We can’t wait to share this unique experience with audiences.

The programme also includes two original productions by the Frân Wen Young Company, developed in collaboration with artists Manon Steffan Ros, Nia Morais, and Hedydd Ioan. Inspired by the themes of Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd, the shows Y Nhw (Them) and Cyn Iddi Nosi (Before Nightfall) provide a platform for young voices to imagine their own visions of a future Wales.

Over the next six months, we will be celebrating artists at every stage of their journey. Audiences can expect to see familiar artists stepping onto new ground alongside new voices who are making their mark.

Bringing artists and communities together to co-create stories is at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to entertaining and challenging audiences across the country.
