Join our Young Company

New season. A new show. New writers. New group!

We’re excited to announce that registration is now open for Frân Wen’s Young Companies. And, for the first time following the success of Summer Club, children in Years 5 and 6 can join us too!

Whether you’re discovering theatre for the first time, ready to create your own production, or looking to take your creativity to the next level, there’s now a place for you.

This year our Young Companies will once again work with some of Wales’ most exciting professional artists to create ambitious, original theatre... and we want you to be part of it.

From Young Company 1, where you’ll play, experiment and build confidence, through Young Company 2, where you’ll create a full production alongside professional artists, to Young Company 3, where you’ll take greater creative ownership and challenge yourself to make ambitious theatre, each Company is a step forward in your development as a young theatre-maker.

What is the Young Company?

From streets to galleries, stages to screens, performing to writing, dancing to inventing. The Young Company is about discovering all the ways you can make theatre.

You’ll develop performance and theatre-making skills, explore creative ideas with other young people, collaborate with professional artists and share stories in unique ways - and have a lot of fun along the way!

Choose your Company

Young Company 1: Years 5-6 | Tuesdays, 4-5pm
A new opportunity for younger members to play, experiment and discover theatre through creative sessions exploring performance, storytelling, movement and characters.

Young Company 2: Years 7-9 | Tuesdays, 5-6.30pm
Work with playwright Leo Drayton to develop ideas and create a full theatre production from scratch.

Young Company 3: Years 10-11 | Tuesdays, 7-9pm
Take your theatre-making further, working alongside playwright Leo Drayton to create a full production while developing your creative voice and taking greater ownership of the process.

All three Companies meet at Nyth, Bangor, with the new term beginning in September 2026.

More than performing

Making theatre is about much more than being on stage. Across the Young Companies, you’ll have opportunities to explore writing and storytelling, music and sound, set and costume design, film, movement and other creative ways of making work.

Young Company is open to Welsh speakers, new Welsh speakers and learners, and you don’t need to have previous theatre experience.

Cost

We don’t want cost to be a barrier to taking part, so bursaries are available for families on lower incomes. Email cifw@franwen.com for more information.
