Praidd cast announcement
Cast revealed for our production on a real working farm
We're thrilled to reveal the cast for our upcoming production, Praidd, which takes place on a working farm.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Anelog in Aberdaron, this powerful story bridges the gap between the realities of agri life in 1914 and the present day.
Playijng the lead role of Dafydd, a young modern-day farmer, is Siôn Emyr. Originally from Ysbyty Ifan, the Mountview graduate is a familiar face to Welsh audiences, having recently starred as Dr. Dan Morris in S4C’s Pobl y Cwm and has been part of the productions Llanast (Theatr Bara Caws) and Culwch ac Olwen (Cwmni Mega).
Performing a live production on a farm will be an unforgettable experience and I'm very proud to be part of the team sharing this important story.Siôn Emyr
Joining the cast is Carys Gwilym, who takes on the role of Dafydd’s mother. For Carys, the production marks a personal milestone; now living in Nefyn, she is returning to perform in the very area where her father was raised. The experienced actor has extensive stage credits with Theatr na nÓg and Theatr Cymru. She has recently appeared on screen in Rybish and the film Effi o Blaenau.
The production also features Owen Arwyn as William, a farmer from the early-20th century. Arwyn brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a career spanning companies like Theatr Cymru and hit television series such as Y Gwyll (Hinterland), It’s a Sin, and Dal y Mellt. He is currently touring the stages of Wales with the production Ledi'r Wyrcws.
Joining the cast to complete the ensemble is Dewi Wykes, who performs the dual roles of Griffydd and Guto. Since graduating from Bristol Old Vic in 2021, he has garnered critical acclaim, including a Stage Debut Award nomination for Petula. His recent screen work includes Mr Bates vs The Post Office and The Sister Boniface Mysteries.
Written by Gwyneth Glyn, in collaboration with the community, and directed by Elis Pari, Praidd promises to be an unforgettable live experience that tells the story of land, legacy and the cost of keeping both alive.
