Community cast announcement

Introducing a cast of locals taking part in OLION

Joining Frân Wen’s upcoming production OLION is a selection of performers local to Bangor.

The 25-strong group will join the production in Part 2: Yr Isfyd (The Underworld), a site-specific performance happening on the streets of Bangor on Saturday 28th September.

In June, Frân Wen released an open call looking for local people enthusiastic about performing to form an essential part of the story. Following auditions, workshops took place in July, where initial ideas and roles were developed.

The cast is made up of locals hailing from Bangor and Bethesda to Blaenau Ffestiniog, international students at Bangor University, and members of Frân Wen’s Young Company. As part of their ongoing collaboration on the project, four members of the Nabod crew will also perform on the day.

“It is extremely exciting to be able to work with a community cast full of enthusiastic, talented individuals who bring so much energy and love to performing,” said Elis Pari, Community Cast Director.

“I can't wait to get started on co-creating the performance with this amazing company, and see them all shine as part of OLION.”

Members of CAIN, the dance and movement group, will also join the community cast.

In addition to the core community cast members, youth groups and local high schools have also been working closely with Fran Wen, giving local young people the chance to be part of OLION. Following further workshops with the production's creative team, more than 100 young people will eventually be part of Part 2: Yr Isfyd (The Underworld), on Saturday 28th September.
