24 hours challenge to make theatre
Two years. Hundreds of artists. Countless conversations.
Since landing at Nyth 2 years ago we’ve been lucky enough to connect with over 603 brilliant artists. You’ve inspired us, challenged us, and told us loud and clear: you want space, time and opportunity to play. So here it is - writers, musicians, designers, performers - we need you!
We’re re-launching our wildly fun, wildly creative project: Theatr Unnos - and this time, it’s especially for our artistic friends right here on our doorstep in North West Wales.
This is about celebrating you - the artists closest to us. This is your space to play.
- Dates & Times: 1pm Thursday, 13 November (initial meeting) - 10pm Friday, 14 November 2025
- Location: Nyth, Bangor.
- Fee: £350 + tasty meals on us.
What is Theatr Unnos?
Think creative bootcamp meets artistic sleepover.
Theatr Unnos throws theatre-makers, artists, and performers into spontaneous creative combustion. No prep. No plan. Just 24 hours of raw, gutsy invention.
You’ll be thrown into a team (yep, names out of a hat) and handed a bunch of wildcards:
- a rule
- a line
- an object
- a provocation
Then? You make something. Fast.
After three days, you’ll share your 10-15 minute piece with an audience in a buzzing, no-pressure showcase at Nyth.
The rules
No pre-written scripts. Just instinct, trust, chaos, and creativity.
Take risks. Support each other. Make a glorious mess. Surprise yourself. This isn’t about polish - it’s about possibility.
Performances will be shared and celebrated as a Sgratsh event at Nyth. No judges. Just joy.
Theatr Unnos is about stripping ideas back to the spark, the impulse, the weird and wonderful moment before the plan. In a world of deadlines and funding applications, this is your chance to go off-grid and dive in.
Let’s make something unforgettable. Together.
How to apply?
To apply to take part contact us on post@franwen.com by 28th October 2025 stating in any creative form what excites you about this opportunity.

The Unnos tradition
Tŷ unnos (one-night house) was an old Welsh tradition where someone could claim a piece of common land by building a small home on it overnight. If the house was standing by sunrise, the land was said to become theirs. More information about the Unnos tradition
