Developing a show with the Eisteddfod
We are collaborating with the Eisteddfod once again to develop a young artist poised to create a fringe production for the Eisteddfod. Could that be you?
What are we looking for?
- We are seeking artists between the ages of 18-30 who are passionate about crafting experiences tailored for festivals and outdoor work.
This might include:
Performances not exceeding 60-70 minutes in duration
Dynamic and mobile productions, ready to traverse different spaces
Storytelling techniques that push boundaries
Interdisciplinary approaches combining music, movement, and visual art
Engaging narratives that resonate with diverse audiences
Innovative staging concepts adaptable to various festival environments
Interactive elements that invite audience participation and immersion
This opportunity includes a residential at Nyth, Frân Wen’s new home, a development process including mentoring and skill development by professional artists and the platform to share work in progress at the Eisteddfod in 2025 prior to full commission.
Five artists will initially be selected and receive expenses to take part in the residential and skill development and mentoring programme. All artists will be supported to develop a pitch with one idea being chosen to progress to commissioning in 2025-2026.
If you’re interested in this opportunity, please send us an email telling us a bit about yourself and what interests you about making a live performance and a very brief idea for a show suitable for the Eisteddfod. This doesn’t have to be a fully formed idea, it’s a journey we’ll go on together.
Submission deadline: 28 October 2024
Contact artist@franwen.com with your submission.
E-mails to artist@franwen.com are monitored by Gethin Evans (Artistic Director), Nia Jones (Executive Director), Ceriann Williams (Associate Producer) and Olwen Williams (Administrator).
